Part deux of Carrie & Jake’s wedding
He was terrified of the water. Never saw such a massive amount in all three years of his life. When they pulled up to the marina, Desmond thought his parents were going to drive straight in since they were surrounded (we were on a peninsula). He didn’t understand what he was seeing, never been to a beach, seen the ocean, played in a surf or watched the waves crash (be it little un-intimidating waves). After convincing him to finally get out of the car, he eased up to the idea of the water after he watched his sister frolic in it. He first stared at it and contemplated, then he poked around in the sand, then he inched closer and closer toward the tantalizing surf. And then all of the sudden he just sat in it. Clothes, shoes and little bow tie (remember, we were at wedding). Sat right down in the lake and looked up with the biggest grin on his face. He had overcome his fear. And quite possibly found the greatest joy.
One of the highlights was when our friend Chris, their dad, picked Lily up and marched into the water in his jeans and undershirt. Give it up for love living in the moment :)
