From Paris to the moon

This is me saying hello to my husband:

And this is me when I realized that there were real people walking around in the photobooth frame:

This was Jeff’s response:

Yes. We’re a perfectly normal couple.

Change is good

Took a tour of our new office space today. I have been tasked with the responsibility of picking out carpet and wall colors. By tomorrow. I didn’t even know I had to do this until today.

No pressure.

Nawab

59/365

I convinced Jeff to try Indian food tonight and guess what … he loves it!!! Nawab is my favorite restaurant in downtown Roanoke but I could never get him to go with me because the thought of Indian food was a little too far of a stretch for a boy who eats peanut butter and jelly or turkey sandwiches every single day and doesn’t get bored with it. It used to be a running joke that every time we went to dinner with the family, people would check the menu and say “hey Jeff, they have chicken fingers” because that’s all he’d ever order. But I’m happy to report that my husboo has broadened his horizons and ventured out into the world of delicious cuisine.

Brooklyn Screenprint

58/365

I received my super beautiful screen printed map of Brooklyn from These Are Things today! Unfortunately their site is under construction right now but if you go and sign up for the mailing list to be notified when the shop is up and running again, I promise you won’t be disappointed. I’ve had my eye on one of their world maps for quite some time but decided to start with the map of Brooklyn first. For memory’s sake. And oooooh how I love it! Their maps make for great gifts for anyone at anytime of the year.

These Are Things is a husband and wife design duo based in Columbus, Ohio. Check out their blog and flickr stream for updates.

Esperanza Spalding

We saw Esperanza Spalding: Chamber Music Society’s sold-out show at The Jefferson Center tonight. The first time I ever heard of her was when she won the Grammy for Best New Artist a few weeks ago (and beat out Justing Bieber which had everyone surprised). But now I know why she won. Her voice is incredibly pure and magnificent. And homegirl can shred it on the upright bass like nobody’s business. She’s beautiful. And her hair is really freaking awesome.

If you like jazz + classical music, do check her out.
